In 2015 another underrated album that seemed to not get enough attention, was Blue Note artist: José James's Yesterday I Had The Blues (The Music of Billie Holiday). On this record, Mr. James presents his most intimate and heart-wrenching sound yet.
This album reflects the fact that jazz is still going strong almost a century after the famous "Roaring 20's." Jazz has always had a pushing the envelope kind of sound to it, and this is why the future of jazz is certain to exist.
My second album review is a late discovery of the 2016 Blue Note Grammy Award winning record, Take Me To The Alley by Gregory Porter. The Brooklyn, NYC resident delivers a remarkable album full of ballads and jazz tunes full of love and tribulations. Porter's voice is like a hot heater warming your body on a frigid winter's evening.
